My name is Kamila, I’m 29 years old, I come from a small town in Central Bohemia and I’d like to share my story with you.

I have a healthy 8-month-old daughter and I learned about egg donation several years ago. I was a university student at the time, and a classmate decided to donate her eggs. I was right there with her all the way. I know it isn’t as simple as people might think. We went to the ultrasounds together, and I helped her with her injections. My friend was brave, and I am sure her decision helped another woman become a mother. I didn’t donate eggs myself at that time because of an internship at another university in another country.

My friend and I are still in close contact. One day, when she came to see me and was holding our little princess in her arms, she asked whether I’d be interested in donating eggs now. Especially now that I’m a mother myself and know what an amazing experience it is. I didn’t have to think about it long. I told my husband what I wanted to do the very next day. He agreed with my decision, so I started looking online for a clinic that needed egg donors. In the end I settled on FertiCare. I liked their donors of hope program. Dr. Uher’s treatments had very positive feedback. He has another clinic in Karlovy Vary, but that was too far away for me. FertiCare is very accessible, right on the metro in downtown Prague. The patient coordinator was also very nice. I was surprised at how well the clinic staff know their jobs. It seemed like they could handle anything. They always patiently explained to me what was going to happen next. They even arranged childcare for my daughter at each visit to FertiCare. That made the whole stimulation process easier for me, because the appointments were always in the morning. So I didn’t have to find a babysitter for my little girl. On egg collection day I was worried about the anesthesia, but it went off without a hitch. As soon as I slept it off, I was able to go home. My husband came to pick me up and take me home. I stayed at home for a few days to rest, but I didn’t have any complications, thank goodness.

Now whenever my husband and I sit and watch our daughter playing, we’re both very proud. I’m proud of myself for getting through it all without any complications, and my husband is proud to have such an amazing wife, whose brave decision helped another couple, who in a few months might be sitting in their living room and taking joy in their new baby. I wish them all the best.

With love, Kamila
